Hello Displorers, welcome to another informative video presented to you by Displore. In this video, we shall count down African songs with more than 100 million views. Many artists around the African continent have broken not only views records with songs which have been viewed to the hundreds of millions but have also made music labels popular. With the recent age of social media and YouTube, artists of the genre have been able to upload their songs onto several platforms and their fans have shown their love for these artists or their particular songs through online views. Hence, if we were to judge how much a song is loved through views, then these will be the most loved African songs.

These videos have made millions of views in many platforms but for the sake of this video, we shall do the countdown based on YouTube views. Therefore, in ascending order, here are the 100 million views songs in Africa.

16. Personally – P-Square – 100+ Million Views
"Personally" is a song by former Nigerian duo P-Square who are now solo artists with the names Mr. P and Rude Boy. It was released as the second single from their sixth studio album, ‘Double Trouble’in 2014. The music video for the song was directed by Jude Engees Okoye and Clarence Peters. It was uploaded onto Vevo on June 21, 2013, and features a cameo appearance from Osita Iheme. "Personally" received positive reviews from music critics, who were addicted to its catchy beats and lyrical rhyme schemes. As of February 2015, the music video had eclipsed the 37 million views mark on Vevo and as of today, it has over 100million views on YouTube and still counting. "Personally" claimed the number 1 spot on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 Chart from August 10 through August 22, 2013.

15. Burna Boy – Ye, 102+ Million Views
"Ye" is a song by Nigerian singer Burna Boy released on the 6th of August, 2018, as the sixth single from his third studio album ‘Outside’. The song was produced by Nigerian record producer Phantom and peaked at number 26 and 31 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts, respectively. "Ye" won Song of the Year and Listener's Choice at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. It also won Song of the Year and was nominated for Best Pop Single and Best Recording of the Year at The Headies 2019. In August 2019, Rolling Stone reported that "Ye" earned around 11 million streams over seven months across major U.S. streaming platforms and it has also left a mark on the YouTube charts earning over 102million views.


14. Do Like That – Korede Bello - 105+ Million Views
Korede Bello born 29 February 1996 is a Nigerian singer and songwriter signed with Mavin Records since 2014. Bello is best known for his hit single "Godwin", a semi-gospel and pop song which became a national anthem and topped many music charts across Nigeria. On November 22nd 2016, he released another single titled ‘do like tha’ which also became an anthem and the numbers do back it up as it ragged in over 105million views on YouTube alone. The song also brought in nominations including City People Music Award for Music Producer of the year and the city people music award for record label of the year.

13. Banana Brain - Die Antwoord– 109+ Million Views
Die Antwoord is Afrikaans for "The Answer" who is a South African hip hop group formed in Cape Town in 2008. The group is composed of rappers Watkin Tudor "Ninja" Jones and Anri "Yolandi Visser" du Toit, a male/female duo, and producers HITEK5000 and Lil2Hood. Their image revolves around the South African counterculture movement known as zef and has incorporated work by other artists associated with the movement, such as photographer Roger Ballen. Despite how controversial the group is, they have several 100 million views videos including ‘banana brain’. Die Antwoord’s song Banana Brainofficially released on the 31st of august 2016 has brought in 109 million views.


12. Mad Over – Run Town – 110+ Million Views
"Mad Over You" is a song by Nigerian singer Runtown, released on November 4, 2016. It was primarily produced by Del B, along with production assistance from Runtown and T-Spize. Described as a love-themed ballad, "Mad Over You" is a blend of Ghanaian highlife and R&B. It debuted at number 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart, marking the singer's first appearance on the chart. As of March 2017, "Mad Over You" garnered over 2 million streams on the streaming media service Spotify. The accompanying music video for "Mad Over You" was directed by Clarence Peters and was uploaded to YouTube on December 7, 2016 and as of date has brought in over 110million views on YouTube alone.
