There’s no questioning the true pop talent coming out of the Scandinavian nations at present. Like Sigrid last year, and Dagny the year before - we’re tipping Norway’s Astrid S and her emotional electro-pop for big things in 2019. At 22 years of age, Astrid S (the ‘S’ being short for surname Smeplass) has already had an exciting career so far, starting with competing on the Norwegian version of Pop Idol as a teen. It wasn’t long before she began picking up a committed fanbase internationally with the success of her songs “Undressed” and “2AM”. One fan - a certain Shawn Mendes - had Astrid feature on his track “Air” in 2015. Since then, Astrid’s slowly been unveiling music to the world (notably 2016 hit “Hurts So Good” and 2017’s ‘Party’s Over’ EP) consisting of sophisticated, euphoric pop bangers. We’re expecting even more greatness from Astrid next year, and a good sign of that is her two new singles “Emotion” and “Closer” performed live for DSCVR Artists To Watch here!
