FDNY Box 4500: Fatal 4-Alarm Fire, Trump Tower

MIDTOWN, Manhattan - A fatal 4-alarm fire broke out at Trump Tower, 721 5th Ave at 5:35 pm, Saturday evening which left one resident dead and four FDNY firefighters with minor burns. The alert was transmitted through an alarm company, not called in by 911. The fire was in the 50th-floor residential apartment. The building was evacuated. Members of FDNY and Secret Service went up to check on Trumps residence. No members of the Trump family were in the building. Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro stated the apartment had many pieces of furniture. Upper residential apartments did not have sprinklers. The cause is not known and is under investigation by FDNY fire marshals. The 4-alarm fire was brought under control at 7:58 pm and residents were allowed back into the building. Over 200 FDNY and EMS personnel responded to the 4-alarm fire. Streets closed included 5 Ave (between 55 & 57) and 56 St (between 5 Ave & Madison).
