MANILA – Jayda Avanzado is grateful to have Darren Espanto as one of her friends in showbiz.
It would be recalled that Espanto came to the defense of Avanzado just recently against some netizens who kept bashing the 15-year-old singer on social media.
"I'm very appreciative and I'm very thankful to have a friend like Darren,” she told PEP. “And I'm just thankful for the love and support that I've been getting from everybody else."
The daughter of Jessa Zaragosa and Dingdong Avanzado was also made to react on accusations that she is trying to mimic Ylona Garcia.
"Hindi po. I'm focused on being true and authentic to myself both as an artist and as a person," she said.
"I feel like, part of it is being in showbiz. Hindi maiiwasan to be compared. But I don't have much to say on that," she added.
Jayda said she is aware that criticism is part of show business.
"I think, you know, to a certain extent, you have to get used to it. That still doesn't justify that people should be able to be allowed to do it. I think people should be held accountable for their actions," she said.
Nonetheless, Jayda said she welcomes constructive criticism.
"It depends on what it is, but as much as possible, I don't let it get to me. But if it's constructive criticism, I try to use it to better myself as a person and as an artist," she said.
