The queen palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana) is native to South America however it has been introduced to temperate climates around the world. Many people don’t know that the fruits of this palm are edible and can easily be used to make a fermented beverage. In this video I use primitive basket tools that I made to collect the queen palm fruit and then wash and prepare the fruits at a mountain stream then allow them to ferment for one week in my calabash bottle gourd. The final product has a richly unique but pleasant flavor and a thick texture like syrup.
