Young girl leaps out of stolen car while baby is still inside <br />Dramatic CCTV footage shows girl aged 12 throwing herself from stolen car after carjacker makes getaway <br /> <br />The child's mother had just got out of her car when a man with spiky hair jumped in and sped off with her two children, including a baby <br />Dramatic CCTV footage has captured the moment a 12-year-old girl jumps out of the window of a moving car after it was stolen while parked outside shops. <br /> <br />A mother had left her young daughter and 11-month-old baby in the black Vauxhall Astra while she went to nearby shops. <br /> <br />The 27-year-old had just stepped out of her vehicle when a man jumped in the driving seat and drove off at speed. <br /> <br />The woman's 12-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, managed to escape the vehicle as he was driving away but her baby son was trapped inside. <br />In the video, the young girl can be seen clambering out of the window and falling into the road <br /> <br />The panic-stricken mother on seeing her car drive off containing her baby son and her daughter lying in the road immediately called the police. <br /> <br />Police said the little boy was discovered a short while later on the doorstep of a family in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire - three miles from where the car had been stolen in Enfield, north London. <br /> <br />He was not injured following the incident at about 12.45pm yesterday, while the vehicle was found abandoned nearby on Saturday. <br />The vehicle was found abandoned a short distance from that address in Coopers Walk, Cheshunt, later that day. <br /> <br />Detectives from Enfield CID continue to appeal for information and witnesses and are specifically appealing for the suspect to surrender. <br /> <br />Police say suspect is described as a white male, in his late teens, with light hair in a spiky style and possibly wearing a hooded top. <br />Detectives say no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. <br /> <br />Detective Inspector Chris Rixon of Enfield CID said: "“It is of paramount importance that we find the person responsible immediately and I am appealing to anyone who has any information that could assist with the investigation to get in contact. <br /> <br />"The suspect is an opportunist who showed little regard for the welfare and the safety of the children. <br />What happened is every parent’s worst nightmare and I’m specifically appealing for the suspect to give himself up now before it is too late. <br /> <br />"All the victims involved have been put through an awful ordeal, none more so than the little 12-year-old girl. <br /> <br />"The fact that she threw herself out of moving vehicle just shows how frightened she was. <br />"She is a very fortunate little girl as the situation could have been so much worse, it could have resulted in her sustaining significant injuries or could have resulted in her dying had she been hit by an oncoming car. <br /> <br />“I would like to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the girl involved as well as thanking the member of the public who found the little boy on their doorstep.
