Hey there, I've been working on this compilation of clips for some time, digging thru my vinyl, ripping thru the cd collection and then scraping the bottom of the catbox for the mp3s. There are 537 edits in this hour long clip. Here is every single #1 Disco Dance Single from Nov 1974 when Billboard started keeping track (Gloria Gaynor "Never Can Say Goodbye" to the end of 1994 when Ace Of Base "Living In Danger" hit #1. Its been a hell of a trip. This is the music of my life, I feel a deep personal connection to each and every one of these songs. I'm working on the next instalment 1995 to 2002...just waiting to receive the vinyl of the songs I don't yet own to fill in the gaps and then that edition will get posted. This is my gift to the disco/dance/club crowd...a quick trip through the history of disco, where it came from and where it went, and where it is going. I love music, its my passion, the thing I turn to to bring me back to me. Trace the history of Donna Summer who had nine #1 hits in this megamix, Madonna and Prince figure heavily also. The song that spent the most time at #1 during this time is Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes "Bad Luck" which spent 11 weeks at #1 in 1975. Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (All Cuts) also spent 11 weeks, but because of various songs from the LP not any one in particular. I dedicate this to all the friends I lost to HIV and AIDS. My friends were there for me and with me in the glory days of disco, but one by one left me to enjoy the music myself. I miss them all terribly. When i feel sad, I play the music and it helps me ease the pain, makes me DANCE and enjoy life. If I get a good response to this I'll post the next collection. George Clinton, the funkmeister supreme once said "Free your mind and your ass will follow", and that is what disco was all about, dancing like no one watching and sharing that experience with everyone on the dance floor. Love, peace and LET'S DANCE!
