List of ABS-CBN Star Cinema Upcoming Films
(1) Star Cinema has released four teasers for its upcoming horror flick "Hellcome Home" starring Dennis Trillo, Alyssa Muhlach, Beauty Gonzalez and Raymond Bagatsing. The teasers, which were released over the weekend, introduce the film's four major characters Peter (Trillo) and Marcy Villareal (Muhlach) and Cynthia (Gonzalez) and Nandy Domingo (Bagatsing). In a previous interview, director Bobby Boni said that "Hellcome Home," which was initially titled as "A Family Ghost Story," follows the story of two families haunted by ghosts and evil spirits. "It's two stories of two different families na tumira sa isang bahay. Pagdating nila roon they are being haunted, ginugulo sila ng kung anu-anong klaseng multo and evil spirits," Boni said.
(2) The Mall, The Merrier is a 2019 Philippine comedy film directed by Barry Gonzales starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis. The film is under the production of Star Cinema and Viva Films. The film is scheduled to premiere in Philippine cinemas on December 25, 2019 as one of the official entry to the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival. The Mall, The Merrier marks the first time Anne Curtis and Vice Ganda were both cast in single film. More cast; Dimples Romana, Tony Labrusca, Paolo Ballesteros, Francine Diaz, Andrea Brillantes, Kyle Echarri, Seth Fedelin, MC Calaquian, Lassy Marquez, Brenda Mage, Chad Kinis Lustre Reid, Jin Macapagal, Mark Lapid, Jodense Valenciano, John Prats, and Isabel Oli.
(3) Metro Manila Film Festival 2016 favorite "Vince and Kath and James" is finally getting the sequel we've all been waiting for. The "James and Pat and Dave" project was announced in a story conference today, February 21. At the helm is original "VKJ" director Theodore Boborol. Among the original cast of the blockbuster hit, which included Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, only Ronnie Alonte remains attached. He has two new co-stars in his on-and-off-screen partner Loisa Andalio and rising star Donny Pangilinan. The trio previously worked together in the Vice Ganda-led "Fantastica", another MMFF blockbuster, released just last December. "James and Pat and Dave" is slated for release this year. It will be an all-new love story about those of us na "hindi pinipili" (sheket), a possible off-shoot from the chat video of the "VKJ" college barkada shared on the VINCE and KATH Series Facebook page last February 16. In the chat, we saw James "leave the group". Bakit kaya?
(4) Jennylyn Mercado will topbill a Star Cinema film in the first quarter of 2020, the ABS-CBN film outfit announced on Tuesday. Mercado, who is identified with rival network GMA-7, will star alongside Richard Gutierrez and JM de Guzman in “Heart of Mine.”
(5) Unbreakable is a Philippine drama film directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar starring Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban and Richard Gutierrez. The film is under the production of Star Cinema and scheduled to premiere in Philippine cinemas on November 27, 2019.
(6) Darna is an upcoming Philippine superhero film based on the comic book superheroine created by Mars Ravelo and Nestor Redondo. The film will be directed by Jerrold Tarog and will star Jane De Leon in the title role. The film is scheduled to be shot at ABS-CBN's new sound stages at San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
(7) Block Z is an upcoming Philippine zombie film directed by Mikhail Red and starring Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia, Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Maris Racal, McCoy de Leon, Yves Flores, Myrtle Sarrosa, and Ina Raymundo. It follows a group of university students who try to survive the undead during a deadly viral outbreak.
(8) The Mirror, a horror flick with Yves Flores, Mccoy de Leon and Heaven Peralejo. The Mirror is headed by Kenneth Lim Dagatan, the writer of 2017's Bloody Crayons.
(9) A remake of the film, Magic Temple a Filipino family-fantasy-adventure film , was announced in September 2019 to be produced by ABS-CBN and Cre8 Productions. Mikhail Red will direct the project and starring Aljon Mendoza, JC Alcantara, Allen Ansay, and Belle Mariano.
(10) Claudine Barretto and Piolo Pascual are finally set to reunite on the big screen, 15 years since the release of their last film together, “Milan.” The actress announced the project in an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” that aired on Wednesday, saying blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina is on board for this film 2gether Un4ever. According to Barretto, filming will take place in Florence, Italy some time in January next year. She did not give further details.
(11) El Filibusterismo, a second novel written by Philippine national hero José Rizal, is finally set on the big screen. The film will be directed by Erik Matti and will star Ryle Santiago, Jiro Custodio, and Javi Benitez.
(12) Daniel Padilla and James Reid are finally working on a film, For Example. The two superstars shared the exciting news on their respective Twitter accounts yesterday, October 5.
