Barbra Streisand performs for the first time in Israel

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Barbra Streisand, the Oscar and Emmy-winning actress and singer, held her first concert in Israel on Thursday (June 20).<br/> <br />The U.S. entertainer, who is Jewish, described her feelings in between songs at her concert in Tel Aviv.<br/> <br />"I have sung in many countries and on many stages, but tonight is very special to me because it's the first time that I am doing a concert in Israel. And it's a very, very deep down feeling. I hear an echo. It's different, it's a connection to my roots, to my heritage, to my family," she said.<br/> <br />During her visit to Israel, the Brooklyn-born Streisand, 71, was awarded an honorary degree from the Hebrew University and sang at a 90th birthday celebration for President Shimon Peres.
