Few songs embody the phenomenon of “blowin’ up on TikTok” better than beabadoobee’s “Coffee.” When Canadian musician powfu sampled the UK singer-guitarist’s tender acoustic ballad, he reimagined it as the foundation for a hip-hop beat. Retitled “death bed (coffee for you head),” their quasi-remix has been streamed half a billion times and soundtracked millions of vids on the infamous app. For sure, the viral hit has been an early career milestone for beabadoobee, whose real name is Beatrice Laus. But let’s be real: She was already making big time moves. Extensive touring with The 1975 and Phoebe Bridgers brought her nostalgic brand of roaring melodic alt-rock to every corner of the US and UK. Her ‘Fake It Flowers' debut album is on its way, but her discography is already deep - she’s been releasing tracks since 2017.
