A Chinese city of nearly 11 million people is to temporarily shut public transport as it tries to halt the outbreak of a new virus. The coronavirus outbreak has killed 17 people so far, and there are more than 500 confirmed cases.

Those living in the city of Wuhan have been advised not to leave, as millions of people are due to travel for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. The airport and train stations will also be closed to outgoing passengers.

Part of the BBC News at Ten’s coverage, presented by Huw Edwards, with reporting from our medical correspondent Fergus Walsh.
