Giliw Ko is a romantic musical, in the tradition of the zarzuela, typical of the era and features such classic songs as Tunay na Tunay and Ang Buhay ng Artista. The story centers around Mila del Sol, who plays a barrio lass dreaming of a singing career on radio (a novelty at that time) in Manila. Although quite fond of her childhood sweetheart, Fernando Poe Sr., she becomes infatuated with the son of their hacienda landlord, Ely Ramos, who happens to be a successful musician. He takes Mila t o Manila to make her a popular radio singer. Although her first radio broadcast is a success, the naive probinsiyana is disheartened to know that Ely is already engaged to a pretty Manila socialite, Fleur de Lis. In the end Mila realizes how much Poe means to her and she returns to the province to be with him.

Giliw Ko is one of the only five extant movies from the pre-war era.
