Hope Tala - Easy To Love Me. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

Bringing bossa nova elements to a classic neo-soul recipe, Hope Tala's sound is both familiar and unique. Her robust West London accent, lilting vocals and hip-hop percussion conjure Jorja Smith and Joy Crookes, though the radiant Brazilian vibe frequently woven into her songs distinguishes her music from several of her R&B contemporaries. Growing up, Hope's heard everything from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to disco in her home. Most importantly, mom introduced her daughter to Lauryn Hill. She says that hearing "To Zion" for the first time was “the most transformative" musical experience of her life. That might be one reason assertive feminist stances run through Hope’s discography. In the span of six tracks, last November’s ‘Girl Eats Sun’ EP illustrates and artistry where whimsical flutes, airy violins and shuffling sambas go hand in hand with pop-R&B and hip-hop vibes, including a feature from Aminé. Our DSCVR performances of the fierce “All My Girls Like To Fight” and vulnerable “Easy to Love Me" will also give you a feel for her approach. It’s not often that turning down a degree from Cambridge is the right move, but it’s safe to say the world’s a better place with Hope sharing her music at the moment.
