Male condoms are one of the most common birth control methods used. It not just prevents the sperm to enter the vagina but also helps in HIV prevention. Be sure to use male condoms made of latex, polyurethane or polyisoprene as they not only help in birth control but also allow no fluid to pass through them and hence prevent STDs. Lambskin condoms / natural membrane condoms only help in birth control but do not prevent HIV.

The above video is an informative animation that talks about the male condom and how to use a condom. Condoms are used as a birth control method for the purpose of preventing pregnancy, they are also effective for HIV prevention. A male condom is a thin sheet man could wear on his erect penis during sex to prevent pregnancy. Using a condom can also reduce the risk of getting or spreading HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are sealed inside plastic or foil packages and are made of latex, polyurethane or polyisoprene. Natural membrane or lamb skin condoms do not provide protection from HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. Before using a condom, carefully remove it from the package to avoid tearing it. A reservoir or space at the tip of the condom, collects semen during ejaculation. Use only water-based lubrication on latex condoms; oil based lubricants like baby oil, petroleum jelly, lotion can weaken latex condoms and cause them to break. The effectiveness of condoms depends on their proper use. Male condoms are about 98% effective at preventing pregnancy, if used correctly each time you have sex; condoms are about 82% effective with typical use.
