Humam Tariq (22) has long been considered one of Iraq’s most talented footballers. Making his debut for the senior national team at the age of just 16, he is the youngest player in Iraqi history to play for the Lions of Mesopotamia.

Nicknamed the “Iraqi Messi”, Tariq has represented Iraq at the 2013 U-20 FIFA World Cup, 2016 Rio Olympics, 2013, 2014 and 2017 Gulf Cups, 2015 and 2019 AFC Asian Cups and participated in the qualification campaigns for the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

Previously linked with clubs such as Celtic, Bursaspor and Galatasaray, Tariq currently plays for Esteghlal in the Iranian top flight, having previously played for Iraqi and Asian giants Al Quwa Al Jawia and Emirati clubs Al Ahli and Al Dhafra. Here are some of Tariq’s best moments and highlights.
