That’s just a part of the up and comer’s glow up; the main message Jay’s subscribers (plus almost half a mil Insta followers) have fallen in love with is one of female empowerment. If you’re looking for an in, try 2019’s “With You.” It pulses along like a heartbeat, as a Frank Ocean-esque vocal sample trades rounds with Jay’s melodious ode to emotional fortitude. A little while back in the studio, Jay and her extremely tight band dished out clean takes of "I'm Ready" and “Love Song,” both of which appear on the '5th Element' EP. “I never wrote a love song/I wish that I could write one/But every time I try/they be acting childish,” Jay croons over lithe jazz guitar chords.
