This is a live look inside one of 10 Barn Owl boxes at the MRWMD. This nesting pair moved in March 3, 2019 and the first egg appeared March 7. By March 25th, 9 eggs were observed. All of the owls are hatched as of April 24th. The mama and papa owls are named Luna and Sol after an owl naming contest with the public.

Barn Owls were first discovered nesting in our recycling building in 2017. The Salinas High School Green Academy then built 10 owl boxes which were installed in February 2018 to encourage the Barn Owls to nest outdoors rather than inside the building. The Barn Owls now provide a natural form of pest management at MRWMD.

This webcam is solar powered and due to available sunshine and battery storage it may not be available 24 hours a day. You can rewind the live feed to see what has happened!
