Smart Home WIFI made Portable?

Let's explore three ways to make the Smart LTE Home WIFI router into a portable unit, similar to a pocket WIFI.

Aside from making it portable, these are also options for keeping yourself online during a power outage, also known as brownout or blackout.

This is the Evoluzn Home WIFI with model number FX-ID3. It's usually powered by an AC to DC 12V power brick. It can operate at 5V but it's very unstable.

The easiest way to keep it powered while staying portable is with a car jump start powerbank which features a 12V output.

The next simplest DIY option is to splice a DC jack onto a short USB cable and power the home wifi router from your pocket WIFI. This is okay for light traffic but will suffer stability issues under high traffic.

Another option is a 5V to 12V USB cable, either DIY or bought online. But the important thing with this option is that it must be capable of at least 7W. Most of those being sold online only output 4-5 watts maximum.
