London-bred singer/songwriter Sody is an unabashed pop stan who is equally determined to change her fave genre from within. That her dream collaborative partner is pop paragon Ed Sheeran is all the evidence needed of her unbridled aspirations of pop stardom. Her own discography, however, displays preference towards a songwriting style steeped in emotion and honesty. For example, take “The Bully.” In the music video, actors of every background and color - those who would feel marginalized - sing her lyrics, including “I feel sorry for your conscience/Does it eat you up?” A little while back, we managed to catch up with Sody amidst unprecedented circumstances. With sun shining through her window, the singer transformed her home into an oasis of feelings. “Charlotte” and “Bedroom Ceiling” both come on the heels of ‘I’m Sorry, I’m Not Sorry,’ her unapologetically raw - and instrumentally sparse - EP from early 2020 aka forever ago.
