Original Country Song Written By Darrin "Dedo" Duke. I wrote this one for all the small town folk out there. I don't think there's a country boy or girl out there that can't relate with this song in one way or another. One things for sure...They Can't Pave Our Memories. Well there's a Walmart in the middle of that old field, Where I shot my first buck
And that backroad is now a four lane, and these days, There's way more cars than trucks
There's a liquor store where the hardware used to be, And Lord only knows what they did with all them trees,
Well they covered up the pig trails, Where we road them ATV's, Put neighborhoods all up and down both sides of the creek, The drive-in's now a drive through, And it ain't real hard to see, How this small town got to be too big for a simple man like me, Well you can hardly even recognize a thing, With all this concrete where the country used to be, And now looking around this no horse town all I can think is Lord atleast, They can't pave my memories
Well that red light used to be an old shot up stop sign, That I'd ran a thousand times
And if they hadn't of built this bridge this used to be the perfect place to wet a line
And that megachurch I'm sure that it's ok, But it'll never be the one that it replaced
And they covered up the pig trails, Where we road them ATV's, Put neighborhoods all up and down both sides of the creek, The drive-in's now a drive through, And it ain't real hard to see, How this small town got to be too big for a simple man like me, Well you can hardly even recognize a thing, With all this concrete where the country used to be, And now looking around this no horse town all I can think is Lord atleast, They can't pave my memories
Well there used to be a bait shop on that corner, And over there a park where I hit my first homer
Well there's a Walmart in the middle of that ol' field, Where I shot my first buck
