Banana leaves are used to line the pans, tin can rings, ramekins, clay pot, or cake pan when making rice bibingka.

First they need to be cut into pieces, about 10 x 10" and then wilted.

Wilted banana leaves help strengthen them and make them pliable. And easy to work with, especially when lining baking pans, cups or ramekins.

They are available at local supermarket that carries Mexican and Caribbean foods products . And at your local Asian or Oriental stores.

When choosing banana leaves, pick the ones that are dark green and free of holes and tears.
