PUTO CHEESE RECIPE | Ep. 41 | Mortar and Pastry
Puto is a steamed cake traditionally made with ground rice but can also be made with cake flour or all purpose flour. This is a very simple and easy to make snack, great partner for coffee or serve as a bun for your savory dishes. This recipe is very easy to prepare and ready in just a few minutes, with ingredients you might already have onhand. It is very soft and fluffy with a little sweetness that you can balance with cheese or salted egg topping.

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 ½ tablespoon baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 1/8 cup evaporated milk
2 large egg whites
¼ cup melted butter
Steam on low heat for 8 minutes then add cheese topping and steam again for another 8 minutes until the cheese has melted. Enjoy your homemade Puto!
