MMDA in Baclaran

For everyone that keeps tagging me in complaints about Baclaran, I hope this will give you insight into my own opinions on the topic.

The MMDA have seen significant improvements in areas where they regularly ticket for illegal parking, riding without helmet, no seatbelt and so on. Why? Because they are consistent and strict in their enforcement.

But when it comes to organized and professional vendors that obstruct the sidewalk and road, a different approach is used and I suspect that's why things continue to get worse instead of better.

I planned to include some photos from a recent complaint but I couldn't find them. It showed vendors occupying both sides of the street and the center island. And there was a tiny space in the middle for motorcycles and pedestrians to pass through.

The MMDA tried to force the Jeepneys to ply that route but the drivers complained about being threatened by vendors and that there's not enough space for the vehicles to pass through.

This is a sales tactic of the vendors because it forces all the commuters from the train station to walk through all of the vendor stalls before they can reach any public transport.
