Like a lot of traditional Filipino desserts, tocino del cielo, as the name suggests, has Spanish origins. It is said to have originated from Southern Spain, where it is known as "tocinillo de cielo". Its basic ingredients are eggyolks, syrup, and butter, and steam cooked in tiny molders lined with caramel. Watch the video and see what makes it different from its popular cousin, the leche flan.
